Porsche: A name synonymous with luxury, panache, and ultimate driving pleasure. Porsche began its journey in 1931 by Ferdinand Porsche. It is a German based company and its headquarter is in Stuttgart. Porsche is famous for making high-performance sports cars, SUVs, and sedan. Initially, Porsche did not make any cars they only provided motor vehicle development work and consulting. One of the first assignments the new company received was from the German government to design a car for the person, which was ""Volkswagen"". This resulted in the Volkswagen Beetle, one of the most successful car designs of all time. In my article, I will talk about some famous and iconic Porsche models.

Porsche 356

The first Porsche model which I will mention is, in fact, the very first Porsche car and it was called Porsche 356 and it was launched in 1948. The Porsche 356 was the first Porsche model to win a motor sports competition and also the first Porsche to be sold in the US.  Thanks to its beautiful design, feathery lightweight body, nimble handling and attention to performance, the 365 went on to become one of the most popular 2-door sports cars of its time. In other words, it was the trendsetter and pioneer for Porsche.

Porsche Carrera GT

The second car on my list is the Porsche Carrera GT which was launched in 2004 and was introduced as a concept car in 2000 Paris Motor Show. When it came out it was considered even more exclusive than Ferrari and Lamborghini. The Porsche Carrera GT had a 5.7 liter V10 engine with 605 hp and was originally designed for Le Mans duties. It could accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in four seconds and to 125 miles per hour in 10 seconds. The fast and furious actor Paul Walker died in an accident while driving a Porsche Carrera GT in 2014; the Porsche Carrera GT is considered as a collectors item in the automobile industry.

Porsche 911 Carrera RS

The third car on my list is the Porsche 911 Carrera RS which was introduced in 1973 and is considered to be the most classic 911s of all-time by Porsche lovers. In comparison to standard 911s models the Carrera RS models have more powerful engines, a wider back end and a tougher suspension making them much faster and more predictable at high speeds. Thanks to its rising demand amongst car collectors, the Porsche 911 Carrera RS has earned itself the title of ultimate classic car.

Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid

The last car on my list is the Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid which was launched in 2010 and the first race ready sports car made by Porsche. Using its ultra-hardcore 480-horsepower GT3 racer as a base, it has two 60kW electric motors in the front wheels to provide an additional boost of power when required. The Porsche 911 GT3 R proved that going green doesn't have to be boring, and you can expect to see the technologies developed for this car used in the next Porsche model. So, there you have it my list of famous and iconic Porsche models. Feel free to suggest and comment on your take of Porsche's famous and iconic cars.
